雙管齊下-以主動性風扇因應突堤效應 Two-pronged approach - use active fans to address the groin effect
The purpose of this study is to address the coastal erosion problem in Taiwan caused by the groin effect. We use fans to create water flow disturbances, thereby altering the movement and accumulation of sand on the coast, and maintaining a balanced distribution of sand around the groin. The experiment has two parts. The first part of the experiment is the basis for the second part. It sets up one active fan and two active fans to study the sand distribution. Based on how the sand accumulated, a jetty model was made to test if the method works. The second part further examined the effects of one or two active fans on the sand around the actual jetties. By measuring the sand area and its changes, it was found that adding fans can effectively increase the outer area of the jetty by 838 %. At the same time, active fans can not only protect coastal structures but also have additional benefits, such as mitigating the groin effect and extending the lifespan of the structures.
