AccessAble: AI-Powered Accessibility for Communication and Mobility for Everyone Using AI and machine learning to help people with disabilities
The issue with today’s world is that most technology and infrastructure is designed to server people who are not impaired, often leaving those with disabilities behind. Many daily tools and systems make life easier for abled bodied people but they don’t always consider those who are physically, visually or speech impaired. That is what AccessAble aims to break by making use of AI to make life more inclusive for everyone. This app has three main sections: Communication, Navigation, and Community. In the communication section, users can access tools like text to sign language, text to speech, speech to sign, and speech to text. This allows for people who struggle with sight, hearing or speech to communicate more easily. The navigation section includes wheelchair friendly maps, area warnings for accessibility, and voice navigation for users with visual impairments. Finally, the community section features a chatbot that can interact through text, sign or voice, a forum where users can share experience and a feedback system to improve the app. This app, AccessAble, gives people with disabilities the opportunity to live more independently and feel included in a world that often overlooks their needs. It also answers important questions like: How can someone who can’t speak communicate? How can someone who can’t walk explore the world? How can someone who can’t see experience the world? The answer is, through technology that truly includes everyone.
