WAVER - An AI-Powered Autonomous System for Hypoxic Zone Remediation and Marine Ecosystem Restoration
Aquatic dead zones, characterized by critically low or depleted oxygen levels, pose a significant and growing threat to marine ecosystems, biodiversity, and the economic activities that rely on healthy water bodies. These hypoxic areas, often caused by pollution, nutrient runoff, and climate change, disrupt natural habitats and endanger aquatic life. This project, Waver, introduces an innovative underwater drone submarine designed to rejuvenate dead zones in lakes by generating artificial waves through advanced fan technology. These waves enhance water circulation and oxygenation, which are essential for restoring aquatic life and maintaining ecosystem health. Waver is equipped with a suite of IoT sensors that continuously monitor critical water quality parameters such as dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, and pollutant concentrations. Using AI-powered data analysis, Waver processes this information in real time to deliver predictive insights and detailed environmental reports. This enables dynamic and informed decision-making for effective ecosystem management. By integrating mechanical oxygenation with intelligent, data-driven monitoring, Waver offers a sustainable and scalable approach to restoring aquatic habitats. This solution aims to revive dead zones, protect biodiversity, and support long-term environmental conservation, ensuring healthier and more resilient aquatic ecosystems.
